Register for free orange bus service
PARENTS in regional areas are reminded to register their children for access to the free orange school bus service next year.
School Bus Service (SBS) orange buses are free to eligible children in regional WA.
SBS spokesman David Hynes said children not registered before November 3 might not be able to access the service in the first week or so of the next school year.
“SBS receives thousands of applications a year from parents of children who need to catch an orange school bus,’’ he said. “The SBS needs time to process the applications, plan routes and allocate resources.”
Only children starting school for the first time, changing schools or moving need register their details.
Where it is not possible to provide a dedicated bus service, SBS offers a conveyance allowance to help manage the cost of taking children to and from school each day.
Parents can fill out applications online at www.schoolbuses.wa.gov.au or by calling 9326 2625 for a form. Lloyd Howe (centre) and fellow Halls Head College students raise funds for cancer research.
