Do­na­tions to food drive sought

THE com­mu­nity is en­cour­aged to do­nate non-per­ish­able food items to the Mur­ray Com­mu­nity Food Drive and help ease the plight of those in need dur­ing Anti-Poverty Week.

The an­nual food drive runs from Oc­to­ber 15 to 28.

Do­na­tions will help Pinjarra Com­mu­nity Kitchen pro­vide meals for those who are home­less or un­der se­vere fi­nan­cial hard­ship.

Food bins will be set up at sev­eral lo­ca­tions through­out the district in­clud­ing Pinjarra Se­nior High School, North Dan­dalup and St Joseph’s Catholic pri­mary schools, Austin Lakes IGA, the Canal Shop at South Yun­derup, North Yun­derup Cafe, the Spud Shed, Coolup Gen­eral Store, Mur­ray Li­brary, Mur­ray Leisure Cen­tre and Mur­ray Shire coun­cil of­fices.

Do­na­tions can in­clude tinned food, ce­real, muesli bars and snacks, rice, pasta, baby sup­plies, crack­ers, bis­cuits, tea, cof­fee, sugar, food spreads and packet foods.

Per­sonal hy­giene items in­clud­ing tis­sues and toi­let pa­per are also wel­come.

Pinjarra Com­mu­nity Kitchen op­er­ates on Tues­days be­tween 11am and 1pm in the car park at the rear of the Al­liance Church.

It is a joint ini­tia­tive be­tween the Al­liance, Fam­ily, Angli­can and Unit­ing Churches and sup­ported by St Vin­cent de Paul.
