Donations to food drive sought
THE community is encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to the Murray Community Food Drive and help ease the plight of those in need during Anti-Poverty Week.
The annual food drive runs from October 15 to 28.
Donations will help Pinjarra Community Kitchen provide meals for those who are homeless or under severe financial hardship.
Food bins will be set up at several locations throughout the district including Pinjarra Senior High School, North Dandalup and St Joseph’s Catholic primary schools, Austin Lakes IGA, the Canal Shop at South Yunderup, North Yunderup Cafe, the Spud Shed, Coolup General Store, Murray Library, Murray Leisure Centre and Murray Shire council offices.
Donations can include tinned food, cereal, muesli bars and snacks, rice, pasta, baby supplies, crackers, biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar, food spreads and packet foods.
Personal hygiene items including tissues and toilet paper are also welcome.
Pinjarra Community Kitchen operates on Tuesdays between 11am and 1pm in the car park at the rear of the Alliance Church.
It is a joint initiative between the Alliance, Family, Anglican and Uniting Churches and supported by St Vincent de Paul.
