Support centre in Great challenge
AIM OF AMAZING OUTCOMES
THE Great Race was on for students at Halls Head College Education Support Centre last week when they embarked on a physical and education challenge.
The fourth Great Race, modelled on the TV reality show The Amazing Race, kicked off at Keith Holmes Reserve, with students from years 7 to 10 from the Education Support Centre and the Halls Head College Big Picture group solving clues, navigating areas of the eastern foreshore, interacting with local businesses and performing physical and mental challenges.
The Great Race catered for the individual needs of all students, allowing everyone to be involved in an inclusive teambuilding event allowing students to demonstrate leadership skills using the school’s You Can Do It program of resilience, confidence, organisation, persistence and getting along.
Students were placed in teams and challenged to complete a range of tasks incorporating academic and physical activities, highlighting an awareness and interaction with the community, landmarks and business.
Businesses involved in supporting the event included Grill’d and Mandurah Seniors and Community Centre.
Michelle Lockley, Taliah Ellem, Monique Saul, Shenara Little and Shantell Griffiths at the start.
