Funds the icing on the cake

OCEAN Road Primary School students baked up a storm for The Kid’s Cancer Project – Cupcake 4 a Cure.

Ocean Road students, Surf Snack Canteen staff and the school community made cupcakes to help raise awareness for childhood and to funds for cancer research.

Surf Snack canteen manager Jodie Richards and volunteer pastry chef Kristy Pepper were overwhelmed by the support they received from the school community.

“At times we had more than 10 helpers in the kitchen and had to extend our prep area to the undercover area,” Ms Richards said.

School spokeswoman Nadia Holmes said it was important to raise awareness and money for research.

“Cancer is the leading cause of death of Australian children by disease and Mandurah unfortunately has too many innocent kids battling childhood cancer,” Ms Holmes said.

Students sold their cupcakes and raised $1013.
