VIEW DESIGNS TO MAKE MOST OF COMMUNITY AMENITY
PUBLIC feedback could help transform the Murray River Square and adjacent foreshore reserve into a well-planned, wellused community amenity.
Shire of Murray has appointed landscape consultants EPCAD to help with progression of the design for the study area.
According to Murray chief executive Dean Unsworth, three sketch options have been released and the Shire is seeking community comment for a preferred design.
Among other components, planning could see the town square redeveloped to achieve views to the river from George and James streets, an informal grassed terraced amphitheatre and stage, upgraded streetscaping, a canoe entry and exit point, and improved picnic and barbecue facilities on the foreshore.
Mr Unsworth said following community feedback it was intended a preferred option which might involve components from one or more of the sketch options would be chosen to develop a full concept design.
To view the sketches and submit feedback, visit murray.wa.gov.au or call into the shire administration offices.
Submissions should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of Murray, PO Box 21, Pinjarra 6208 or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
The concept development follows the council’s adoption in 2015 of a master plan for the Murray River foreshore between the Henry Street boat ramp and Murray Leisure Centre.
Submissions close at noon on Friday, June 1.
