Tron has a lot to answer for – tight bodysuits and making frisbees popular are top of the list. New PS VR future sports game Sparc embraces one of those trends – luckily it’s frisbees (a close-fitting bodysuit is optional).

Sparc will be CC Games’ first title outside of the EVE universe, and its second PS VR game. It’s also going to be a timed exclusive on PS VR, so we have faith the developer is going to push the virtual reality system to its limits, given Sony’s belief in the game.

So what is it? Well, it’s a take on Tron’s frisbee combat, with you and a friend facing off against each other in a glowing cyber-arena. The frisbee is replaced by a metallic ball that you ‘throw’ using the PS Move controller; bouncing the ball off the arena’s walls and floor will catch your opponent off guard. You score points by hitting your rival, which means there’s also a defensive game on hand, as you need to use a second PS Move controller to bring up a shield to rebound shots.

There’s nothing quite like Sparc on PS VR. It looks like a retro sci-fi cyber-sport and has the gameplay to match. While it can be played solo against AI opponents, Sparc is really a game designed for two players, so you’ll need a friend with a PS VR headset to get the most from it.

Even though it’s a essentially a future sport beamed back from 1982, Sparc’s duelling game design feels fresh and unique in VR. That snug bodysuit is waiting for you.
