Entsch is regular visitor to region
I WOULD just like to comment on the recent editor’s comment ( Gazette, July 29) which stated that I hadn’t stepped foot in the Port Douglas region since the election was called.
I have made many visits to the Port Douglas and Mossman region prior to the election being called and also since the election was called.
I attended the Mossman Show with former councillor George Pitt, travelled to Rocky Point to discuss issues with local residents in the area and even had the pleasure of watching a local Junior AFL match in Port Douglas.
The Port Douglas Chamber event on Thursday, August 5, was initiated by myself and I worked proactively with the Port Douglas Chamber of Commerce so I could have the opportunity to meet with business leaders of the community and also share my vision for the area and hear residents’ ideas and issues directly. To say I have not “stepped foot” in the area is utterly inaccurate.
I am a proud advocate for the Douglas region and am acutely aware of the unique issues that face the residents of the community and have been fighting hard to ensure they are given a voice and that their concerns are heard at all levels of government.
The difference between the incumbent and myself is I don’t issue a press release every time I enter a community to get free publicity, I just concentrate on getting the job done.
