SOME more great news with airlines with Jetstar starting direct services to New Zealand and Cathay going seven days a week out of Hong Kong. The Cathay flights give us great links to Europe and UK.
While at the Australian Tourism Exchange in Adelaide I was chatting to managing director of Tourism Australia Andrew McEvoy and invited him to visit the Douglas region and hear first-hand from our operators on the state of the industry.
Not only is Andrew visiting, but he is bringing several of his marketing team - executive general manager of marketing Richard Beere, general manager of trade marketing Matt Cameron-Smith and domestic, New Zealand marketing manager Tim Jones.
This is an excellent opportunity to talk first-hand with the head of tourism in Australia and see where we can leverage support.
The session starts at 2pm next Wednesday, August 18 at Sea Temple Resort and Spa. Please RSVP to info@ tpdd.com.au
We are in the final stages of our “What’s New and What To Do” campaign.
This flyer is distributed to over 1500 travel agents in the domestic market and used as a major education tool for the international market.
Our UK and Europe representative Ros Harries will be distributing them while training overseas.
We are still waiting on the release of the TNQ branding. This should come out directly after Tourism Queensland release their new branding. We are hosting a number of directors from cruise companies over the next couple of weeks.
With the cruise industry the fastest growing tourism sector in Australia it is important that we maintain our relationship with the industry and ensure Port Douglas and the region remains a high priority in their itineraries. I look forward to catching up with you all at Sea Temple on Wednesday.
