Tourism Aus­tralia bosses in town

LO­CAL busi­ness own­ers and op­er­a­tors will be able to quiz the coun­try’s high­est tourism of­fi­cials when they visit the re­gion next week.

Tourism Aus­tralia man­ag­ing di­rec­tor An­drew McEvoy along with TA se­nior mar­ket man­agers Richard Beer, Matt Cameron Smith and Jim Jones will at­tend an open fo­rum in Port Dou­glas af­ter be­ing in­vited to ad­dress lo­cal busi­nesses by Tourism Port Dou­glas Dain­tree ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Doug Ryan.

Mr Ryan said the visit was a great op­por­tu­nity for op­er­a­tors to en­gage first-hand with ques­tions and an­swers with Tourism Aus­tralia’s most se­nior staff.

“The visit is a re­sult of an in­vi­ta­tion we re­cently is­sued to An­drew McEvoy to see and hear how our mem­ber op­er­a­tors are far­ing in the cur­rent global tourism slump,” Mr Ryan said.

“We are de­lighted that he not only ac­cepted the in­vi­ta­tion to visit our re­gion, but that he is bring­ing with him se­nior mar­ket man­agers.

“This is a very valu­able op­por­tu­nity for di­a­logue with the coun­try’s high­est level tourism of­fi­cials.”

The open fo­rum will be held at Sea Tem­ple Re­sort and Spa on Au­gust 18 from 2pm.
