THE un­der-10 net­ball com­pe­ti­tion be­gan with the Port Crocs play­ing the Port Dol­phins last Tues­day at Port Courts. The Crocs played a great game with ex­cel­lent pass­ing and ter­rific shoot­ing.

Best play­ers went to Phoenix Scott-Spack­man and Nicki Samson. The Dol­phins with great play by Han­nah Durie and Char­lotte Dowl­ing put in a strong de­fen­sive game against the Crocs. Fi­nal score Crocs 6 - Dol­phins 1.

When Moss­man Pri­mary played the T-Birds, the T-Birds shot 2 goals to nil in the first quar­ter with Cartier Ben­nett in­ter­cept­ing well and Sasha Lowen­stein-Jones shoot­ing well for goal. The Moss­man girls stepped up the pres­sure in the sec­ond quar­ter, outscor­ing the T-Birds 3-2. Krys­tal Secker was strong in at­tack and So­phie O’Gor­man-Pe­track was dom­i­nant all over the court. Fi­nal score T-Birds 9 - Moss­man 6.

The un­der-12 Miallo Thun­der took on Moss­man Pri­mary. The Moss­man girls came out fir­ing shoot­ing 3 - 1 in the first half. Shan­ice McLean stood out in at­tack and Tyler Mous played well in de­fence. For the Thun­der Saisha Scho­nen­berger in­ter­cepted well and kept the pres­sure on her op­po­nents. El­lie Mackay was great in goal at­tack to lift the team who shot 5 - 2 in the sec­ond half, with the Thun­der win­ning by a goal. Fi­nal score Thun­der 6 - Moss­man Pri­mary 5.

The Crocs played Moss­man High with the Crocs keep­ing up with Moss­man on the score­board in the first quar­ter. The ex­pe­ri­ence and age of the Moss­man High team did even­tu­ally win out but not with­out a great con­test. Fi­nal score Moss­man 11 - Crocs 5.

The Saints played an ex­cel­lent game against the Dragons, dis­play­ing ex­cel­lent pass­ing and de­fence to reg­is­ter a con­vinc­ing win. Player of the match was Mar­ley Cairns. The Dragons came in un­der­manned with three play­ers out due to ill­ness. The Dragons matched the Saints in the first quar­ter with one goal apiece but could not match the Saints for the next three quar­ters. Spe­cial thanks to Cartier Ben­nett and Sasha Lowen­stein-Jones for play­ing up from un­der 10s to make up a side and Tayler Miller for step­ping up her de­fence and be­com­ing more con­fi­dent each week. Fi­nal score Saints 10 - Dragons 1.

The un­der 12/16 com­pe­ti­tion saw the Blue Team play the Black Team. Blue was down by one goal at half time, al­though Meg Goodall in de­fence and Si­mone Pringle on at­tack were not let­ting the game slip away. For the Black Team Jess Ste­ley stepped up in de­fence withj great in­ter­cept­ing and Es­ther Nulty was very re­li­able in fin­ish­ing with goals. Fi­nal score 6-6.

The Green Team started a player down and the Reds took full ad­van­tage, shoot­ing 9-0 in the first quar­ter. Chenoa Ryan filled in for the Green Team in the next quar­ter, which stopped the bar­rage of goals but the Green Team couldn’t catch up. Hazuki Kirby was great in cen­tre and Jess Ea­gle-Rowe was named best and fairest. For the Green Team Karla Lo­gan in­ter­cepted well through­out the game. Fi­nal score Red 12 - Green 3.
