TWO volunteers from the Wujal Wujal Warranga Community Justice Group have been recognised as among the state’s most outstanding senior volunteers. Lily Yougie and Doreen Ball were named recipients of the Premier’s Award for Queensland Seniors at a ceremony at Parliament House in Brisbane last Friday. “This award highlights the fantastic work these justice groups are doing,” Cook MP Jason O’Brien said. “Both the Mossman and Wujal Wujal groups perform a great service in trying to help people with the justice system, and keep them on the straight path.” Mr Cook also announced funding for the two groups last Friday. The Mossman Elders Justice Groups has been awarded $97,000, while the Wujal Wujal Warranga Community Justice Group has won $104,000.
