Low scores shot in Powerade Open
THERE were plenty of highlights this week on the golf course including low scoring all weekend during the annual Powerade Open.
The men kicked off the week on Tuesday with a Stableford competition which saw Rick McIlhagga return to the course and win with 42 points. Dave Nesbitt was second with 41 points after a count back to John White.
Nearest the pins were Russell Hooker on 6, Brett Jurie on 8, Nesbitt on 10, Ed Body on 13 and Simon Nelson on 17.
Bill Heath was again victorious this, week winning the Wednesday nine-hole competition with 22 points after a count back to Shona Barbour. Kerri Williams won nearest the pin on 10, John Cameron won 13 and Lucy Giles won 17.
The Thursday ladies played a bisque bogey event this week. Kate Brims struck form scoring +7 to win by two shots to Cathy Duncan on +5. Kate also won nearest the pin on 10 and Bev Symons won 13.
Charlie Kadic came from four shots behind to win the overall gross at the annual Powerade Open with 160. Peter Culley’s consistency won him the overall nett after two rounds of 67.
Joe Hutchinson won the B Grade gross with 167 ahead of Art Howard on 170. Bill Heath won the B Grade nett with 139 ahead of Ed Body on 141.
In C Grade B Sorensen collected the gross with 180 ahead of Bernie Boon on 183. Wayne Baxter claimed the C Grade nett with 144 with Alec Ford three shots back on 147.
Shona Barbour had a weekend to remember after she took home the overall ladies nett after two fine rounds of 67 and 65. Kiara Lomas won division one gross with 179 with Trish Landy taking home second place with 185. Julie Hooker won division one nett with 141 and Bev Cowe was the runner up with 152.
In division two Lucy Giles won the gross with 186 ahead of Judy McCormack on 204. Lyn Heimann won division two nett with 146 and Yvonne Johnstone was second with 151.
