Cyclone season is fast approaching. To help residents prepare for the storm season Cairns Regional Council is offering free green waste disposal. Mayor Val Schier said the current dry weather and the opportunity to dispose of garden waste free of charge created perfect conditions for residents to clean up now. “In the weather conditions that we are currently enjoying, it is easy to forget that the cyclone season is just around the corner,” Cr Schier said. “The offer waives fees at Council transfer stations for the next two weekends and through the week for domestic garden vegetation.” The offer is valid from Saturday November 6 until Sunday November 14 for residential green waste delivered in utilities, trailers and light trucks (max 4 tonne GVM) at Killaloe Transfer Station Mon-Sat 8.00am-5.30pm, Sun 9.00am-5.30pm.
