Evie and family keep spirits up

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FEEDBACK -

Dear Sir,

I just wanted to send you a personal ’thank you’ to the community and give you all the latest Evie update from Brisbane where I have spent the last four days with the Shaw family, and I am pleased to advise that the unit we secured is lovely.

It is across the road from the royal children’s Hospital and has 3 bedrooms a gym and lovely lap pool that my daughter (Nicky) & Evie have been swimming in all weekend.

Evie has just started Radiotherapy and we are up to day 4 of this treatment, it is not painful to her but the ongoing regime of Monday to Friday appointments can be daunting and tiring along with side effects such as nausea makes food intake a real challenge for the once unfillable Malley Bull!

In general the doctors are happy with Evie’s progress and all other test results have been favourable to date.

I have delivered the new laptop to the Shaws (which they love) however at this stage they don’t have email and internet access we are just using mine.

Can I also just say that the messages, gifts, letter and cards, acts of kindness that are coming through to the Shaws has lifted their spirits and saved their sanity day after day. Your are a fantastic bunch who inspire everyone.

A special thank you also to Ann Dollard, Corrine Durie and all other organisers of the boys BBQ & Girls night in, I am please everyone enjoyed a great evening for a wonderful cause.
