Mud will fly at local Khanacross this w’end
GET your backsides trackside this Sunday for the Douglas Shire Motor Sports Association championship event at the Reef and Rainforest track just north of Mossman on Finlay Vale Road.
“It’s all about short track rally action - we’re all on limited budget, we’re about being competitive but not betting the sheep station on any event,” said organiser Tony Fox.
Foxy said the DSMSA is great family entertainment and the club is always looking for more members and drivers from 12 years and up can compete.
“Karin North has just started as a twelveyear-old and will certainly be a great driver on our tracks and on the road in years to come,” said Foxy.
Last weekend the DSMSA members went to Herberton for a Far North Queensland Motor Sports Club Khanacross event.
“It’s always a bit of fun to beat them on their own track at their game, and to come third against guys that have been on that track for the last ten years, for me personally it was a good result,” said Foxy.
“The best results were Jaiden Barnes and Alex Scomazzon. Both finished in the top ten and they are both under the age of 16.”
Jayden was driving a Ford Lazer and Alex a Datsun Stanza.
“Five members competed and ended up in the top ten. One missed out due to due to mechanical problems, but he would have been up there,” Foxy said.
The Hoffman Family Fun Day on Sunday gives competitors a chance to get points applicable, for both Khanacross and Junior Motorkhana.
“We will be slashing and dragging the track from 2pm on Saturday arvo so any one wanting to help us set up for Sunday is most welcome to come out and help”.
Pre-nominations are essential by lunchtime Saturday. To pre-nominate or for further information go to www.motorsportsmossman.com or www.motorsportsmossman.forumotion.com or phone Foxy on 0409 228 778.
