The ’traditional’ marine stinger chironex fleckerii causes intense pain immediately upon contact “like being whipped with a live electric cable”, and often result in long-term scarring. Increasingly dangerous as the wet season progresses. Pouring vinegar onto the affected limb will neutralise the stinging cells which have not yet fired, but will not reduce the pain. Treatment by a medical professional is highly recommended.
