WEDNESDAY’S fixtures produced some surprise results. One of the youngest players, Sam Laurence, got up 2-1 over Adon Trewick who is top of the line. Sam may be young but he more than makes up for his lack of height and age with tremendous enthusiasm and never say die fighting spirit. He chased everything and was rewarded with his victory. Lachlan Cowe continues to improve and this was evident in his close game with Rae Page. Rae is top of her line but Lachlan stretched her in their match with some great returns and rallies. Rae won 2-1. Another fast mover is Cole Watson who defeated Chris Dwyer 3-0. Chris tried hard but Cole proved stronger in the end. In other results; Hayley Gwynne d Dean Macarthy 3-0, Brydehn Bender d Poppy Laurence 3-0, Rae Page d Jake Newham 3-0, Chris Dwyer d Lachlan Seibel 3-0. Team scores after round 5 are; Team 1; 31 points, Team 2: 24, Team 3: 26, Team 4: 24. Next week will be the last round before semi finals and, with teams being so close on points, matches are expected to be fiercely contested as players compete for a place in the semis.
