Expert to help get local tills ringing
SOCIAL capitalist and author Peter Kenyon is heading to Port Douglas to motivate local business owners and tourism operators.
His presentation “Getting the Tills Ringing in Tough Times” focuses on stories and practices for tourism orientated businesses in rural and regional areas in Australia.
“My presentation is about reminding businesses to go back to the basics when times are tough and reflect on what you can do to get the tills actually ringing,” he said.
“I will be focusing on practical examples from other businesses in rural areas to provide them with strategies and inspire them.
“It will be a very practical talk which provides affective examples on the types of things people are doing in rural areas across Australia to keep the money coming in.”
Mr Kenyon said “it’s not rocket science” and will be discussing the four critical elements of doing well in difficult times.
“I am going to focus on customer service, innovative marketing ’how not to be bland’, motivation of staff and collaboration between businesses,” he said.
His visit to the region was organised by the Cairns Regional Council and Tourism Port Douglas Daintree to encourage locals to think “out of the box” in hard times.
He is very well known throughout Australia and New Zealand for his work with communities in business enterprise expansion and retention - working particularly with communities facing economic downturn.
The presentation will be held at the Rydges Sabaya Resort in Port Douglas between 12.30pm and 2.30pm on March 9.
Places are limited and people wanting to attend need to RSVP to Tara Bennett from Tourism Port Douglas Daintree on info@tpdd. com.au or on 4099 4588 by March 7.
