Rains set to persist
RAIN, rain, go away.
Since March 1 the region has been saturated with almost 400mm of rain and according to the Cairns Bureau of Meteorology there is more to come.
Mossman has recorded 360mm and Port Douglas 356mm with the La Nina system expected to bring plenty more before the wet season finishes.
Cairns Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Ben Suter said the Douglas region can expect above average rainfall events until May if the La Nina event carries on.
“It is difficult to forecast so far in advance but the wet season may last until early May,” he said.
