Time to toughen feet up

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FEEDBACK -

I AM 11 years old and I saw the story in last week’s Gazette about the barefoot debate.

I believe children should not have to wear shoes to school.

Firstly, Aboriginal people did not wear shoes for thousands of years. Did they have problems surviving? Humans did not evolve with shoes. So do you think we really need to wear shoes? No we do not.

Next, if you live in Wonga, Port or Mossman most people wear no shoes, so you are going to have tough feet.

Some prickles in the oval are not going to hurt your feet.

So all the people who wear shoes and say protect the little darlings’ feet are just too soft.

To these people I say, “Toughen up”.
