Nippers take on best
BRIAN Markham needs a break.
The team manager for the North Queensland Nippers surf lifesaving team reckons he’s exhausted after a weekend of watching his charges take on the best in Queensland, not to mention a whole day at MovieWorld on Monday.
“They had a great carnival. The conditions were pretty good, from our point of view.
“There was a bit of surf, but nothing too big.”
The four representatives of the Port Douglas SLSC competed in a variety of individual and team events, with Eliza Markham recording the best individual result, a fourth in the Under-12 beach sprint.
Eliza’s surf team also came fourth in the surf team event.
Harry Goodman’s Under-11 surf team came in fifth in the teams event, while he also managed to make the final in the individual surf swim.
Finn Devine-Cameron also made the final in several events, and scored a fifth place in the surf teams event.
Alison Munroe came sixtth in the beach relay. Results for local Nippers: Harry Goodman: final in surf swim; team came fifth in surf teams; ninth in quarter-final of ironman.
