LOCALS are urged to get their applications in for the latest round of the Bligh Government’s $2 million Building Rural Communities Fund. MP for Cook Jason O’Brien said the second round closes today and eligible organisation should get their applications in as soon as possible. “There is a strong competition for the funds, with 55 organisations in round one sharing in more than $465,000 for a range of projects to boost rural economies,” he said. Eligible rural organisations can apply for up to $10,000 each in funding to implement projects that improve the economic, social, environmental and cultural capacity of their communities. Organisations must either be an incorporated not-for-profit organisation, a local government entity or a Regional and Remote Area Development Organisations. “If anyone requires assistance or a letter of support, please contact my office on 1800 816 264 or email cook@parlia,” Mr O’Brien said.
