Bowls c’ships begin
LADIES bowlers worked up a sweat competing in the champion fours in perfect weather at the Mossman Bowls Club last week.
Ladies bowls were all competing for the trophy with Jan Gard’s team defeating the Petrus team.
The Gard team will now play Kay McDonald’s team for the trophy on March 31.
Maree Cree’s team won the social game and Joan Day was the raffle winner.
The numbers were up for the men’s bowls this week as they played fours with a jackpot of $350 plus meat trays up for grabs.
The competition was hot and winners of the day on a count back were Max Colsted’s team of Peer Janssen, Col Andressen and Dave ’Wiki’ Beaumont.
Runners up were the Ted Pitt skipped team of Sam Parkes, Colt Pitt and Al Cooper.
Championship games will kick off next weekend Saturday April 2 and Sunday April 3.
Saturday’s game for the men’s fours include Brlyack, Day, Cooper and Radlof verses Blain, Cleary, Valentine and Chatterton.
In the pairs it is Girgenti and Beaumont versus Pisot and Gard.
Sunday’s game will start at 9.30am for A-Grade singles and will include Conroy versus Hocking, Andreessen versus Pitt Janssen versus Gard and Pisot versus Blain. Play, sub or forfeit.
Players selected for pennants from the A-Grade are Misson, Egan, Cleary, Wills, Parkes, Blain, Banks and Tesch. B Grade - Maxted, Beaumont, Andressen, Janssen, Day, Ashford, Bolton and Wilmot.
