Golfers sing for sunshine
GOFLERS are singing “please don’t take my sunshine away” after a successful week of competition on dry grass.
Don Demler kicked off last week winning the Tuesday men’s competition with 39 points. Ralf Middel was second with 37 points after a count back to Jock O’Kane. Nearest the pins were Brett Jurie on 8, Broz Jurie on 10 and Ralf Middel on 17.
The Thursday ladies played a Bisque Bogey last week which was won by Pris Freeman on +5. Lucy Giles finished in second place with +4 after a count back to Julie Hooker. Nearest the pins were Pris on 8 and Helen Gabour on 17.
Joe Wild was in hot form on Saturday winning the men’s stableford competition with 41 points.Nearest the pins were Adam Ferguson on 8, Elijah Boon on 10 and Jeff Bochow on 17.
In the ladies Saturday competition Trish Landy won easily with 38 points. Nearest the pins were Kim Edwards on 8 and Shona Barbour on 10.
The annual 27 hole Mixed Foursome’s Championship was played on Sunday with 19 pairings competing for the title.
Queensland junior girl’s representative Gennai Goodwin teamed up with Shane Heath for a shot at the championship.
After an early hiccup on the third hole the pair fought back to finish with a five over par total of 113. Peter Chrisfield and Julie Hooker finished second with 124 however they took out first place in the Nett championship with 105.25.
