Golfers sing for sun­shine

GOFLERS are singing “please don’t take my sun­shine away” af­ter a suc­cess­ful week of competition on dry grass.

Don Dem­ler kicked off last week win­ning the Tues­day men’s competition with 39 points. Ralf Middel was sec­ond with 37 points af­ter a count back to Jock O’Kane. Near­est the pins were Brett Jurie on 8, Broz Jurie on 10 and Ralf Middel on 17.

The Thurs­day ladies played a Bisque Bo­gey last week which was won by Pris Free­man on +5. Lucy Giles fin­ished in sec­ond place with +4 af­ter a count back to Julie Hooker. Near­est the pins were Pris on 8 and He­len Gabour on 17.

Joe Wild was in hot form on Satur­day win­ning the men’s stable­ford competition with 41 points.Near­est the pins were Adam Fer­gu­son on 8, Eli­jah Boon on 10 and Jeff Bo­chow on 17.

In the ladies Satur­day competition Tr­ish Landy won eas­ily with 38 points. Near­est the pins were Kim Ed­wards on 8 and Shona Bar­bour on 10.

The an­nual 27 hole Mixed Four­some’s Cham­pi­onship was played on Sun­day with 19 pair­ings com­pet­ing for the ti­tle.

Queens­land ju­nior girl’s rep­re­sen­ta­tive Gen­nai Good­win teamed up with Shane Heath for a shot at the cham­pi­onship.

Af­ter an early hic­cup on the third hole the pair fought back to fin­ish with a five over par to­tal of 113. Peter Chris­field and Julie Hooker fin­ished sec­ond with 124 how­ever they took out first place in the Nett cham­pi­onship with 105.25.
