Vision for future
IF YOU’RE not exhausted by master plans, consultations and surveys, you can check out what the Cairns Regional Council thinks the local community wants the local community to look like in 20 years time.
The draft community plan, titled “Imagine Tomorrow”, will be unveiled at a public meeting at the council office in Mossman next Friday, April 15.
Council is currently running through the “community validation” phase of a 20-year plan to reflect the aspirations of the local community.
The State Government instructed all councils across the state to develop the 20-year plans with much public consultation, resulting in the current draft from council.
The draft community plan has identified three principles and 12 elements which locals think are important to them.
Those guiding principles are ’character and spirit’, ’resilient people’ and ’ functioning communities’.
When complete, the community plan will become the official guiding vision for council planning for the next 20 years.
“I would encourage people to come along to the public meeting,” division 10 councillor Julia Leu said.
“It is important that we make sure we give council ideas for directing resources.
“I am committed to achieving a strong community plan to direct council plans.”
