Lagoon has ‘no longterm benefit’ to town

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FEEDBACK -

COULD someone please explain to all the people in Port Douglas how the lagoon development will benefit anyone long-term.

A great mistake is being made with this short-sighted project.

We are all still on water restrictions each year - and in the future this may be worse as the water supply has not been upgraded - yet council is now embarking on a high water use and waste project. Does it make any sense? Electricity costs are crippling household budgets (and it will only get worse) yet the council now wants to build the biggest mother of power users - a lagoon pool. It defies logic. The pumping costs and resultant carbon footprint of a lagoon pool has to be staggering.
