Crocs kick off season with win

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

Despite a few glitches in the forward line and a lack of “hardness at the ball”, Viola said he was pretty pleased with the Crocs’ early-season form.

“I knew we weren’t the fastest or the fittest at this stage of the season, but we’ll work our way into the season,” he said.

Best players for the Crocs were Luke Bloom, Evan Hocking, Daniel Smith, Micheal Doust, and Brad Cooper.

In reserve grade, the Crocs were far too slick for South Cairns to record an impressive 12.12 (84) to 4.4 (28) win.

Best players were Karl Zammataro, Bryce Willis, Scott Roberts, Joseph Barrett and Campbell Wurramarrba, who kicked five goals in his first game for the club.

Following the games, the Ernie Baxter Bar was officially opened at the Crocpit to honour one of the club’s founding members.
