Cafe beached by works

THE Cairns Re­gional Coun­cil has been do­ing some well over­due main­te­nance on the Port Dou­glas Es­planade - well done.

How­ever I must con­vey my sym­pa­thies to the pro­pri­etors of the cor­ner cof­fee shop, Beaches Café, for the poor tim­ing of this "up­grade" which seems to have been em­barked upon with min­i­mal con­sid­er­a­tion to the ex­posed lo­ca­tion of the cafe.

While I ap­pre­ci­ate it can be hard to or­gan­ise such a pro­ject, per­haps the coun­cil could have made more ef­fort to li­aise with Beaches Cafe so the own­ers could have co-or­di­nated and ex­tended their an­nual hol­i­day shut-down pe­riod into the time frame.

I am sure it would have been prefer­able if the paving rec­ti­fi­ca­tion could have been bet­ter or­gan­ised and co­or­di­nated prior to
