Port paradise for lovers of seafood
FRESH seafood could soon be delivered right to your door by the new owners of the Port Douglas Seafood House.
Honeymooners Mark and Ellen Todd took ownership of the popular seafood house on Monday and chose to become “locals” after falling in love with the Port Douglas lifestyle.
The enthusiastic couple have started managing the business and are yet to unpack their boxes in their new Port Douglas home.
“We came to Port Douglas in November 2006 for our honeymoon and fell in love with the place and the friendliness of the community,” Mrs Todd said.
“Since then we have visited the region every year and decided we both wanted to move here but needed a business to run.
“When we heard that Ray and Donna were selling the Port Douglas Seafood House we jumped at the opportunity.”
The Todds were thrilled to move away from the cold Melbourne weather and enjoy fishing in the sunshine.
Mr Todd has spent his career working in the trades industry as a concreter and Mrs Todd has always worked in administration.
“This is a big sea change for us but we are both very excited to live here because we both really love the lifestyle,” Mrs Todd said.
“We hope to keep trading as the Port Douglas Seafood House by keeping the name and selling the same products but we are working on a project for the future.
“We hope to deliver seafood to resorts and to the homes of Port Douglas.”
Port Douglas Seafood House offers a range of seafood including crabs, reef fish, crayfish, prawns, fresh oysters and much more which are all sourced from local fishermen.
“Special orders will also be attended to, whether its seafood platters for a special function or celebration, raffles for the Port Douglas Crocs or the clubs in Mossman,” Mrs Todd said.
“We are open to any suggestion and are more than happy to supply these orders to meet the needs of seafood lovers in the region.”
