Port par­adise for lovers of seafood

FRESH seafood could soon be de­liv­ered right to your door by the new own­ers of the Port Dou­glas Seafood House.

Hon­ey­moon­ers Mark and Ellen Todd took own­er­ship of the pop­u­lar seafood house on Mon­day and chose to be­come “lo­cals” af­ter fall­ing in love with the Port Dou­glas life­style.

The en­thu­si­as­tic cou­ple have started man­ag­ing the busi­ness and are yet to un­pack their boxes in their new Port Dou­glas home.

“We came to Port Dou­glas in Novem­ber 2006 for our hon­ey­moon and fell in love with the place and the friend­li­ness of the com­mu­nity,” Mrs Todd said.

“Since then we have vis­ited the re­gion ev­ery year and de­cided we both wanted to move here but needed a busi­ness to run.

“When we heard that Ray and Donna were sell­ing the Port Dou­glas Seafood House we jumped at the op­por­tu­nity.”

The Todds were thrilled to move away from the cold Mel­bourne weather and en­joy fish­ing in the sun­shine.

Mr Todd has spent his ca­reer work­ing in the trades in­dus­try as a con­creter and Mrs Todd has al­ways worked in ad­min­is­tra­tion.

“This is a big sea change for us but we are both very ex­cited to live here be­cause we both re­ally love the life­style,” Mrs Todd said.

“We hope to keep trad­ing as the Port Dou­glas Seafood House by keep­ing the name and sell­ing the same prod­ucts but we are work­ing on a pro­ject for the fu­ture.

“We hope to de­liver seafood to re­sorts and to the homes of Port Dou­glas.”

Port Dou­glas Seafood House of­fers a range of seafood in­clud­ing crabs, reef fish, cray­fish, prawns, fresh oys­ters and much more which are all sourced from lo­cal fish­er­men.

“Spe­cial or­ders will also be at­tended to, whether its seafood plat­ters for a spe­cial func­tion or cel­e­bra­tion, raf­fles for the Port Dou­glas Crocs or the clubs in Moss­man,” Mrs Todd said.

“We are open to any sug­ges­tion and are more than happy to sup­ply these or­ders to meet the needs of seafood lovers in the re­gion.”
