SOME of Australia’s most magnificent and prestigious works of art can be found at the Australian and Oceanic Art Gallery on Grant St. Owned and operated by Tom and Kerry Colrain, the art gallery specialises in contemporary and traditional Aboriginal art from a range of local and national artists. “A lot of people don’t understand the symbolism of art or how interpret it so we have decided to offer a complimentary information evening for the community to introduce and explain indigenous fine art,” Mr Colrain said. The gallery offers paintings, sculptures and glassware made by Ray Crooke, Geoff Dyer, Claudine Marzik, Julie Poulsen, Heinz Steinmann, Arone Meeks, Denis Nona, Ben Trupperbaumer, Judi Elliot and Karen McPhee. To help members of the community understand Australian and indigenous art the pair are offering a free information night on Tuesday evenings at 6pm at the art gallery. The evening will offer information on the history of Aboriginal and Australian fine art, Dreamtime stories, how to begin a collection or build on an existing collection of art with complimentary wine and cheese. To make a booking contact Tom and Kerry Colrain on 4099 4494.
