Bowls Club c’ships go down to wire
LAST Saturday’s Championship Fours results saw a win for the Doug Pitt skipped team of Arthur McDonald, George Wilmot and Dick Pitt as well as winning the meat trays in the second game.
Dave Egan’s team of Peter Ghys, Colt Dwyer and Grant Banks got out of jail after being down 13 shots with only three ends to play.
Col Maxted’s team folded, losing 13 shots only to get beaten in sudden death. The jackpot still sits at $350.
Social bowls will be held next Saturday due to the Easter weekend.
In ladies bowls news, Championship Fours competition progressed with Clair Holloway (25) defeating Zina Girgenti (16).
Bev Zillfleisch (25) defeated Margaret Cooper (13); Estelle O’Rourke (26) defeated Maria Mijo (22) and Greta Kessler (25) defeated Jan Gard (22).
Carole Maxted, Val Robinson and Jean Marsh won the social bowls. Sonia Edwards was the raffle winner.
This week’s competition games are Clair Holloway v Estelle O’Rourke with Barbara May marking and Bev Zillfleisch v Greta Kessler with Margaret Cooper marking.
This week will also be Val Sharpe’s 80th birthday so come along and wish her well. Competition winners will play on April 21.
