Dragons fail to fire in grand final repeat
THE Douglas United Dragons suffered their second defeat of the season, going down to Edge Hill 1-0 in a repeat of last year’s grand final.
It was a spirited performance from the Dragons, who created a number of chances but were unable to convert any of them.
The vast majority of opportunities were created by the two wingers, Matty Smith and John Raffaele, who went past their respective markers at will.
Raffaele in particular impressed on his Dragons debut, and was awarded the man of the match award for his performance.
The Dragons are not in action again until May 6, when they travel to Atherton in what now shapes up as a must-win game.
They will be buoyed by the return of coach Nick Tither, who missed the Edge Hill defeat whilst in New Zealand, and last year’s top scorer Joe Abedini, who arrives back in town this week.
