Charity walk to celebrate Mother’s Day
A PARADE of mums in pink will be flocking the streets of Mossman next Sunday for the Mother’s Day Classic breast cancer walk.
Dozens of local mothers are gathering at George Davis Park in pink attire to raise funds and awareness for one of the most common cancers among Australian women, breast cancer.
Mossman local Bev Gwynne organised the event and said it’s something that everyone can enjoy.
“I attended the walk in Cairns and I thought it would be a great activity to have in Mossman,” she said.
“It’s not just about women and mothers, it is an event the whole family can enjoy.
“I encourage families to come down and enjoy the walk together as a family outing.”
The registration for the 4km walk will start at 8am and the walk will begin at 9am on Sunday, May 8.
Mums will be meeting at George Davis Park in Mossman with the walk to cost $15 for adults, $8 for students or $8 per child.
Family packages are also available for two adults and four children at $35 and one adult and four children for $22.
At the end of the walk the Mossman Girl Guides will be handing out free ice-creams to all the children and there will be a prize for the best dressed individual and team.
