D’s restaurant grog grab

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS - ANGELIQUE PATTERSON

THE young owner of Mossman’s popular D’s Steakhouse restaurant is putting steel bars on all the windows after it was robbed last week.

Thieves broke into the restaurant by gaining entry through the kitchen window, ripped the seat covers off the new couch and filled them with up to $3500 worth of alcohol.

All of the drinks, including cans of soft drink, were stolen from the refrigerators and up to $1000 cash was taken out of the cash register.

Owner and chef Danielle Robinson, 22, only opened the restaurant seven months ago and said she was devastated.

Her mother, Leigh Slade, has been helping her run the business and noticed the cash registere had been opened about 6.15pm on Monday, July 25, when a receipt was left on the till.

“This is really disappointing,” Ms Slade said.

“Danielle has worked so hard and everyone has been complimenting her on her steaks.

“If anyone has any information about the break and enter we would love to hear from them.”

The thieves attempted to gain entry through the roller door and the back door. Mossman police are urging members of the community to contact them on 4099 2177 with any information.
