Time for a wild ride at Mt Carbine

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - ENTERTAINMENT -

BULL riders from across the region will saddle up at this year’s Mt Carbine Bull and Bronc Ride Rodeo next weekend.

Riders from the Tablelands, Chillagoe, Hope Vale, Cooktown and Normanton will be gripping on to their seats to last eight seconds and reach the top score of 50.

Glen Simmonds from Biboorah is supplying the bulls which include Jackhammer, Overdraft and Ratsack.

Mt Carbine sports ground secretary Karen Waters is organising the event and said she expects up to 1000 people to surround the arena.

“The arena is small so the crowd are able to sit around the outside and are right there to see the action,” she said.

“It is full on non-stop action so we encourage local families from the Douglas region to attend and enjoy the evening.”

The action will kick off at 5pm and run until 10pm at the Mt Carbine Sports Grounds on Saturday, August 13.

“People are able to camp at the grounds and enjoy the bush atmosphere,” Ms Waters said.

“There will be lovely hot meals, a licensed bar, jumping castle for the kids, and live music from ’Toe Cracking Jack’.”

Bull riders will be vying for the $5000 prize money which will be rewarded at the end of the night.

Admission fees cost $10 per adult, $5 per student and children are free. For more information contact Karen Waters on 4094 8337.
