Zinc takes plate for top nosh
THE BEST restaurant in the Far North is right in the heart of Port Douglas.
ZINC Restaurant and Lounge Bar won two prestigious awards including Best Contemporary Australian Restaurant and Restaurant of the Year at this year’s Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering awards night.
Zinc Restaurant owner Marco Piat was thrilled to accept both awards and said it was a reflection of his hard working and dedicated staff.
“Last year we won the Best Contemporary Australian Restaurant award so it was very exciting to win one of the major awards this year when we were up against restaurants such as Salsa Bar and Grill,” Mr Piat said.
“These awards are a reflection of our hard working and dedicated staff, including our head chef Hagen Wittner and manager Terry Collins, who make sure our customers have a great Zinc experience.”
Many other Port Douglas restaurants and catering companies took home awards on the night from a variety of categories.
Salsa Bar and Grill were awarded Caterer of the Year in the Far North, a major award, and received the Honourable Mention award for restaurant caterer.
Salsa Bar and Grill owners Rhys Bawden and Bill Conway would like to thank their customers for their support.
“Port Douglas has done very well this year, which just proves that we have a great food culture even though we are a very small region,” Mr Bawden said.
Best Café Restaurant in the Far North was awarded to Lure Restaurant and the best Family Restaurant was awarded to The Beach Shack Restaurant and Bar. Bucci won best Italian Restaurant with an honourable mention and the wedding caterer of the year was awarded to Port Douglas Catering and Events.
Finalists on the night include Hi Tide Café, 2 Fish Restaurant, Finz Port Douglas, Harrisons Restaurant and On the Inlet.
