A new age for the elderly

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

THE Mossman District Nursing Home Incorporated is one step closer to achieving its goal of building an aged care facility in Mossman.

Last Monday was the official unveiling of the sign that marks the 10,000sq m land for the future establishment of the aged care facility on the Johnston Rd site.

MDNHI chairwoman Marj Norris said this has been a long time coming for the facility, which is a joint venture with the Salvation Army’s aged care branch.

“It has been quite a journey and it started 15 years ago when the council found there was a high need for age care in the community,” Marj said.

The next step will be in December when it is hoped bed licenses will be allocated and capital funding sought for the proposed 42-bed high-care facility.
