Changes aris­ing from the feed­back re­ceived from the con­sul­ta­tion process and over­all re­view of the la­goon de­sign:

Move the edge of the la­goon west to in­crease the prox­im­ity to the edge of the rock wall and man­age ground lev­els so the board walk is lower than the pool edge

Re­move the change fa­cil­i­ties and toi­lets and other build­ings from the mounds

Re­move the boul­ders and pro­posed grotto but re­tain de­sign in­tent for a youth space

En­sure car-park­ing has min­i­mum dis­rup­tion to the view line and ex­plore use of un­der­ground lo­ca­tions for plant and chem­i­cal stor­age

Re­duce hard­ened paths lead­ing to the site but in­clude the pos­si­ble use of a tim­ber board­walk

Op­tions for in­creas­ing wa­ter and grassed sur­rounds un­der shade should be ex­plored

De­crease the amount of park­ing be­tween the Com­bined Club and the La­goon so as to high­light the water­front area In­clude a kiosk in the de­sign The pro­posed snorkel trail should be re­viewed with fur­ther de­sign dis­cus­sion in re­gard to ap­pro­pri­ate el­e­ments to ac­ti­vate the la­goon and pro­vide for pos­si­ble in­ter­pre­ta­tion of the reef en­vi­ron­ment

De­pend­ing on the ex­tent of the de­vel­op­ment of the mar­itime precinct theme and the fur­ther in­ter­pre­ta­tion of the mar­itime his­tory of Port Dou­glas, the la­goon de­sign could iden­tify fur­ther with this theme and ex­plore op­por­tu­ni­ties for greater in­ter­pre­ta­tion of this his­tory.
