Sharks look down barrel

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

THE FUTURE of the Port Douglas and Mossman Sharks is in question after many disappointing losses and forfeits throughout the season.

President Keith Pitt and head coach Trevor Cobb are puzzled why the team’s performance has plummeted this season.

However, both are determined to amend any contentious issues between players or within the club before next year’s games.

“I am not too sure what is happening with the boys but it needs to be sorted out before next season,” Mr Cobb said.

The Sharks’ most recent and brutal loss was against the Kangaroos, who thumped them to the tune of 86-8 in the A-grade clash on Saturday.

With up to 20 players from both the reserves team and A-grade team the Sharks battled it out for the fi nal game.

“We would love to thank all the players who have stuck it out every game and have stepped up to play for the A-grade when they are short on players,” Mr Cobb said.

“These boys had to play two games on the day which is pretty exhausting for them,’’ he added.

“We are not sure how to fix the club but we are hoping that we can recruit some new players and rejuvenate the team.”
