Badges of honour for veteran bowlers
THREE bowlers were presented with their veterans badges at the Mossman Bowls Club this week.
Allen Cooper, Bob Day and Col Maxted were awarded the badges for turning 70 years of age.
But age was no barrier for the bowlers who played a great club championships pair’s game on the weekend.
Results include B Wolland and A Conroy defeated J Hocking and C Dwyer 18-15.
Jackpot results include J Cody, G Wilmot and C Pitt defeated B Gard, G Zillfleisch and R Vlug 19-14.
D Johnston, R White and A Douglas defeated R Parkes, M Adams and D Head 22-14.
E Verbi, T Pisot and S Chatterton defeated N Tesch, I Bulger and R Pitt 25-16, C Maxted, D Beaumont and A Cooper defeated D Blain, G Girgenti and I Pitt 28-17.
Winners of the day were A Fary, P Cleary and G Marsh defeated C Wills, T Pitt and M Radloff 37-11.
Last Sunday’s handicap singles game resulted in D Blain -4 thrashing N Tesch -1 25-15.
This Friday the Night Super Challenge games teams will be on the noticeboard.
Next Saturday club championship pairs game will include B Wolland and A Conroy, and V G Girgenti and D Beaumont.
The ladies played graded triples on Thursday with Zena Girgenti, Margaret Cooper and Joan Day (26) defeating Maree Crees, Barbara May and Greta Burke (17).
Jan Gard, Clair Holloway and Carol Maxted (26) defeated Robin Petrus, Bev Zillfleisch and Val Robinson (12). Team Gard will now play Maria Mijo, Jean Marsh and Estelle O’Rourke.
Social bowls was also played with Denise Highland, Glenise Sharp and Sonia Edwards (16) defeating Great Kessler, Maria Mijo and Estelle O’Rourke (15). Maree Crees was the lucky raffle winner.
Age shall not weary them: Allen Cooper, Bob Day (Men’s President) and Col Maxted who have been presented with their Veterans Badges.
