Badges of hon­our for vet­eran bowlers

THREE bowlers were pre­sented with their vet­er­ans badges at the Moss­man Bowls Club this week.

Allen Cooper, Bob Day and Col Maxted were awarded the badges for turn­ing 70 years of age.

But age was no bar­rier for the bowlers who played a great club cham­pi­onships pair’s game on the week­end.

Re­sults in­clude B Wol­land and A Con­roy de­feated J Hock­ing and C Dwyer 18-15.

Jack­pot re­sults in­clude J Cody, G Wil­mot and C Pitt de­feated B Gard, G Zillfleisch and R Vlug 19-14.

D John­ston, R White and A Dou­glas de­feated R Parkes, M Adams and D Head 22-14.

E Verbi, T Pisot and S Chat­ter­ton de­feated N Tesch, I Bul­ger and R Pitt 25-16, C Maxted, D Beau­mont and A Cooper de­feated D Blain, G Gir­genti and I Pitt 28-17.

Win­ners of the day were A Fary, P Cleary and G Marsh de­feated C Wills, T Pitt and M Radloff 37-11.

Last Sun­day’s hand­i­cap sin­gles game re­sulted in D Blain -4 thrash­ing N Tesch -1 25-15.

This Fri­day the Night Su­per Chal­lenge games teams will be on the no­tice­board.

Next Satur­day club cham­pi­onship pairs game will in­clude B Wol­land and A Con­roy, and V G Gir­genti and D Beau­mont.

The ladies played graded triples on Thurs­day with Zena Gir­genti, Mar­garet Cooper and Joan Day (26) de­feat­ing Ma­ree Crees, Bar­bara May and Greta Burke (17).

Jan Gard, Clair Hol­loway and Carol Maxted (26) de­feated Robin Petrus, Bev Zillfleisch and Val Robin­son (12). Team Gard will now play Maria Mijo, Jean Marsh and Estelle O’Rourke.

So­cial bowls was also played with Denise High­land, Glenise Sharp and So­nia Edwards (16) de­feat­ing Great Kessler, Maria Mijo and Estelle O’Rourke (15). Ma­ree Crees was the lucky raf­fle win­ner.

Age shall not weary them: Allen Cooper, Bob Day (Men’s Pres­i­dent) and Col Maxted who have been pre­sented with their Vet­er­ans Badges.
