Babies galore at Daintree zoo

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - BUSINESS -

SPRING has sprung and babies have been born, all furry and feathered at the Daintree Wild Zoo.

The latest additions are three playful dingo pups that like to have adventures and are a handful for the volunteers at the zoo because they never stay in one spot for long.

There is one male called Ernie the dingo and two female pups called Winnie and Boot and the three youngsters are only 14 weeks old.

Then there is Lucky, a 17-day-old baby emu who greeted the Gazette at the door because Lucky is a curious little emu and likes to follow anything with legs around.

The more dominant 18-month-old Beep (named after road runner’s famous cry beep beep) likes to keep all the pups and babies in line and entertains guests of the zoo by coming right up to them.

The zoo and the baby animals can be located 23km north of Mossman and has a variety of Australian critters including baby barn owls, three baby crocs and other native animals.
