THE new Paws and Claws an­i­mal shel­ter is edg­ing closer but more do­na­tions are re­quired to fin­ish the project.

Man­ager Bianca Maguire said there are up­com­ing fundrais­ing events to see the de­vel­op­ment be­come re­al­ity.

“We are now get­ting close to a po­si­tion to start build­ing but we need more money to do that,” she said.

“On Satur­day we have a sausage siz­zle and raf­fle at Coles and a lunch auc­tion at Water­gate for Mel­bourne Cup Day.

“Keep an eye out on our web- site www.pawsand­claws.org.au and face­book page be­cause we will post any up­com­ing events on them.”

Do­na­tions are com­ing in with over $1300 do­nated from Quick­sil­ver’s an­nual 500 card game and from a char­ity golf tour­na­ment at the Sea Tem­ple.

The cost of the new refuge, to be built on do­nated land of 4000 sq m in Craiglie’s in­dus­trial park, was es­ti­mated to be $1 mil­lion but is cur­rently be­ing re­vised.

There are also six kit­tens that will be ready for lov­ing homes in a cou­ple of week’s time.
