Paws close to home
THE new Paws and Claws animal shelter is edging closer but more donations are required to finish the project.
Manager Bianca Maguire said there are upcoming fundraising events to see the development become reality.
“We are now getting close to a position to start building but we need more money to do that,” she said.
“On Saturday we have a sausage sizzle and raffle at Coles and a lunch auction at Watergate for Melbourne Cup Day.
“Keep an eye out on our web- site www.pawsandclaws.org.au and facebook page because we will post any upcoming events on them.”
Donations are coming in with over $1300 donated from Quicksilver’s annual 500 card game and from a charity golf tournament at the Sea Temple.
The cost of the new refuge, to be built on donated land of 4000 sq m in Craiglie’s industrial park, was estimated to be $1 million but is currently being revised.
There are also six kittens that will be ready for loving homes in a couple of week’s time.
