Jnr golfers shine at Open

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

THE small yet tenacious group of Mossman Golf Club Junior Golfers again made their presence felt in the FNQ golfing region at the Gordonvale Junior Golf Open on September 25.

The juniors featured heavily in the tournament awards and presentations demonstrating that they are a dominant force on the FNQ junior golf circuit.

In the nine-hole novice section, Nathan Deuble shot a handy score of 57 and received the Net Runner-Up Trophy.

A large field contested the girls’ and boys’ nine-hole modified event where junior golfers hit from the 200m and 150m markings.

Jaiden Kearns from the Mossman club was the outright gross score boys’ winner striking an impressive score of 47 with pint-sized Couper Smith, also from the Mossman Club shooting an impressive score of 52 to finish receiving the net runner-up award.

The Mossman girls were not to be outdone with Jasmine Hill, also receiving the net runner-up award and securing a nearest-tothe-pin prize for an outstanding shot on the 12th hole.

All Mossman junior golfers played admirably on the day, with a number of golfers travelling and competing away for the first time.

All competed extremely well and were inline for prizes on the day.
