AP­PLI­CA­TIONS are now open for a share in $125,000 to hold events cel­e­brat­ing Queens­land se­niors.

Mem­ber for Cook Ja­son O’Brien is call­ing on peo­ple to take ad­van­tage of the fund­ing and get in­volved in Se­niors Week 2012 next Au­gust.

“This fund­ing is to help peo­ple run events next year to de­bunk com­mon myths and stereo­types about age­ing,” Mr O’Brien said.

“It’s about get­ting peo­ple of all ages and all back­grounds cel­e­brat­ing our se­niors and the vi­tal role they play in our com­mu­nity. Ac­tiv­i­ties which may be funded in­clude con­certs, book launches, art and craft dis­plays, ex­pos, morn­ing teas and achieve­ment awards.”
