Future QLD Premier caught in ‘dodgy deal’
THE man tipped to become the next Queensland Premier has become embroiled in controversy surrounding his ownership of two beachfront holiday units in Port Douglas.
Queensland Deputy Premier Andrew Fraser has referred Liberal National Party leader Campbell Newman to the Crime and Misconduct Commission over his personal financial interests.
Mr Fraser said he referred the Opposition leader to the CMC following reports he may have breached the City of Brisbane Act while Lord Mayor by not declaring all relevant financial interests during his tenure.
It was revealed last week that Mr Newman is a shareholder in family company Frome Holdings which owns two beachfront units in the Beaches complex on the Port Douglas esplanade.
Mr Newman said he did not need to declare the units because he did not receive any income from them.
