Last Lit­tle Ath­let­ics run for sea­son

THE Dou­glas Lit­tle Ath­let­ics Club held their last club day for this sea­son last week.

The two-week break for the hol­i­days helped some of our mem­bers to pro­duce some amaz­ing re­sults, while for oth­ers it was a bit of a wind down.

Congratulations to Melissa Cal­lan­der who set a new high jump record for the club for the Un­der 9 years with her jump of one me­tre.

Some of the best per­for­mances that were recorded last week were from Jade Schuck with three Per­sonal Best per­for­mances in­clud­ing 19.92m for Javelin.

Unity Beitzel had three PBs in the Un­der 10 years (100m, 400m, and shot put).

Jor­don Scott gave per­sonal best per­for­mances for four of the five events she com­peted in (100m, long jump, high jump, and shot put).

Beau Paulke had two PBs for the Un­der 6 years group (70m and dis­cus).

Trinity Beitzel and Lina White both had PBs for the Un­der 7 years -Trinity in the 70m and dis­cus Lina in the shot put.

The Un­der 8 years group had three mem­bers achieve PBs for high jump - Rhakaine Bowen, Wil­liam Curley and Brodie Fran­cis, while Fletcher Beitzel had a PB with his 200m sprint.

Te­jay Set­ters also com­peted well and Lafe Hat­field did his best high jump for the sea­son in the Un­der 9 year’s group.

Vin­cent Killeen had a per­sonal best per­for­mance for long jump and Ker­rin Bren­nan com­peted well in five events.

The Un­der11-year group had three mem­bers put in per­sonal best per­for­mances for dis­cus - Dha­reese Bowen, Finn Stan­away and Jas­mine Booth.

Wy­att Tooth had PBs for 800m and triple jump.

Joshua Bellero had per­sonal best per­for­mances in the 800m and triple jump for the Un­der 12-year group and Nicky Sam­son for shot put and Krys­tal Schultz for dis­cus.

Karl Hinz, Con­rad Hinz and Xa­vian Pitt all com­peted, while Bray­don Wall was away in­jured.

Elle Kad­well for achiev­ing PBs in long jump and high jump in the Un­der 13 years.

The 2011 sea­son has been a big suc­cess for our club and our mem­bers have ben­e­fited from all the time that par­ents and friends have freely given to the club.

Our break-up pre­sen­ta­tion and AGM is on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 22, at 9am. We wel­come all mem­bers, fam­i­lies and mem­bers of the pub­lic to this fi­nal event for the sea­son.

The de­vel­op­ment of chil­dren in the Dou­glas area is vi­tal and your sup­port is needed.
