Heat fail to fire in tough battle
AFTER a four-week lay-off, the Port Douglas Heat resumed in the Mulgrave District Basketball Association competition last Thursday.
The defending premiers played another top team, the Dragons, and both sides were off their game in a low-scoring encounter.
After the first term the Heat were up 4-3 after the first quarter but the Dragons won each of the remaining terms to run out 37-30 winners.
The Heat had a few excuses with no substitute players and were forced to rush to the Smithfield courts from work just to make the 6.30pm tip-off.
The team is looking for sponsorships to help them defend their title and anyone keen to play is urged to attend training at the Mossman Indoor Sports Complex on Wednesday nights.
Supporters are also welcome to cheer them on.
