Ju­nior Mud­dies lose de­spite great ef­fort

THE Dou­glas Mud­dies Un­der-12 team played a tough first match of the sea­son at Tolga on Satur­day. The Mud­dies team con­sist­ing of quite a few new younger play­ers put in a great ef­fort against Ather­ton Boars but lost against the more ex­pe­ri­enced Table­lands team.

Cap­tain Keel Sorensen won the toss and elected for his team to bowl first.

Wick­et­keep­ers for the game were Bryce Fabi­ani and Luke Twomey who did a great job for the start of the sea­son.

Wicket tak­ers for the Mud­dies were Keel Sorensen (1-16) to­gether with first-time play­ers Rueben Al­li­son (1-17), Raine Sorensen (1-21) and Ryan Doble (1-22) as well as Daniel David­son (1-30 off four overs).

Keel had a great day in the field tak­ing two catches as well as a run out with Nathan Deu­ble ef­fect­ing an­other run out bring the op­po­si­tion score to 7-175 af­ter 27 overs.

Daniel David­son and Keel Sorensen opened the bat­ting with Daniel re­tir­ing on 13 and Keel not out on 22.

Nathan and Rueben also re­tired on four runs each and Bryce Fabi­ani and Luke Twomey both scored two runs.

Ash­ton Daven­port who also played his first game for the team put in a great ef­fort and scored his first run of the sea­son be­fore re­tir­ing af­ter fac­ing his fair share of balls.

The ju­nior Mud­dies fin­ished on 3-77 af­ter 27 overs.

This week’s match will be played at the Moss­man High School oval on Satur­day morn­ing.
