Bring on the lagoon

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FEEDBACK -

WE ARE regular Kiwi visitors to Port Douglas and we would love a lagoon in Port for our grandkids and all other little children to play in safety.

We are not just fly-by-nighters, we have been coming to Port every year for 10 years. Why do we keep coming back? Well what started our love affair with Port back in 2001 was me accidently overhearing a woman at a Rotary meeting.

They were debating on how they were going to spend the money they had raised.

She wanted to spend it on making the pavements more accessible to strollers for the growing number of families visiting Port and also for wheelchair users.

This, I thought, is my kind of place, these are local people I’d like to spend time with.

So in the past 10 years the old hanger on and myself have been back to Port 10 times.

Every year we have noticed an increase in the number of strollers and pre-schoolers on holiday.

How wonderful it would be to have a totally safe gorgeous lagoon where all our little kids could safely enjoy the sea, and, just as important, their parents could relax. Please Port Douglas build a Lagoon. Build it next to the Sunday market if possible.

Give it a Great Barrier Reef and rainforest theme.
