Edge in front of fours

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

EDGE Hill bowler David Spowart led his team to victory in the Mossman Fours last weekend.

The highlight of the Mossman Bowls Club calendar, Spowart’s team was the only one of 15 from as far away as Ingham to win all five games to take the lion’s share of the $6800 in prizemoney to finish ahead of Barry Hair’s team from Marlin Coast.

Dave Egan’s team performed the best for the Mossman club, putting in the best performance on Saturday before losing its only game in the fifth and final match on the last end.

On a much sadder note for the Mossman Bowls Club, president Bob Day passed away after a long illness on Tuesday night.

Club secretary Rod Parkes said his good mate would be sorely missed.

“Bobby was the shining light at the club, he brightened everyone’s day and encouraged everyone to enjoy themselves first and foremost,” he said.
